The Harry Potter Prequel by JK Rowling

The Harry Potter Prequel by J.K. Rowling

This is the prequel that J.K. Rowling wrote for the Waterstone's Auction. It earned more than $50,000 for charity. Here it is:

The Story:
The speeding motorcycle took the sharp corner so fast in the darkness that both policemen in the pursuing car shouted,"Whoa!" Sergeant Fisher slammed his large foot on the brake, thinking that the boy who was riding pillion was sure to be flung under his wheels; however, the motorbike made the turn without unseating either of its riders, and with a wink of its red tail lights, vanished up the narrow side street.

"We've got 'em now!" cried PC Anderson excitedly. "That's a dead end!"

Leaning hard on the steering wheel and crashing his gears, Fisher scraped half the paint off the flank of the car as he forced it up the alleyway in pursuit.

There in the headlights sat their quarry, stationary at last after a quarter of an hour's chase. The two riders were trapped between a towering brickwall and the police car, which was now crawling towards them like some growling luminous-eyes predator.

There was so little space between the car doors and the walls of the alley that Fisher and Anderson had difficulty extricating themselves from the vehicle. It injured their dignity to have to inch, crab-like, towards the miscreants. Fisher dragged his generous belly along the wall, tearing buttons off his shirt as he went, and finally snapping off the wing mirror with his backside.

"Get off the bike!" he bellowed at the smirking youths, who sat basking in the flashing blue light as though enjoying it.

They did as they were told, finally pulling free from the broken wing mirror, Fisher glared at them. They seemed to be in their late teens. The one who had been driving had long black hair, his insolent good looks reminded Fisher unpleasantly of his daughter's guitar-playing, layabout boyfriend. The second boy also had black hair, though his was short and stuck up in all directions; he wore glasses and a broad grin. Both were dressed in t-shirts emblazoned with a large golden bird; the emblem, no doubt, of some deafening, timeless rock band.

"No helmet!" Fisher yelled, pointing from one uncovered head to the other. "Exceeding the speed limit by-by a considerable amount!" (In fact, the speed registered had been greater than Fisher was prepared to accept that any motorcycle could travel.) "Failure to stop for the police!"

"We'd have loved to stop for a chat," said the boy in glasses,"only we were trying--"

"Don't get smart-you two are in a heap of trouble!" snarled Anderson. "Names!"

"Names?" repeated the long-haired driver."Er-Well, let's see. There's Wilberforce...Bathsheba...Elvendork..."

"And what's nice about that one is, you can use it for a boy OR a girl," said the boy in glasses.

"Oh, our names, did you mean?" asked the first, as Anderson spluttered with rage."You should've said! This here is James Potter, and I'm Sirius Black!"

"Things'll be seriously black for you in a minute, you cheeky little-"

But neither James nor Sirius was paying attention. They were suddenly as alert as gundogs, staring past Fisher and Anderson, over the roof of the police car, at the dark mouth of the alley. Then, with identical, fluid movements, they reached into their back pockets.

For the space of a heartbeat both policemen imagined guns gleaming at them, but a second later they saw that the motorcyclists had drawn nothing more than-

"Drumsticks?" jeered Anderson. "Right pair of jokers, aren't you? Right, we're arresting you on a charge of--"

But Anderson never got to name the charge. James and Sirius had shouted something incomprehensible, and the beams from the headlights had moved.

The policemen wheeled around, then staggered backwards. Three men were flying-actually flying- up the alley on broomsticks-and at the same moment, the police car was rearing up on its back wheels.

Fisher's knee bucked; as he sat down hard; Anderson tripped over Fisher's legs and fell on top of him, as flump-bang-crunch- they heard the mean on brooms slam into the suspended car and fall, apparently insensible, to the ground, while broken bits of broomstick clattered down around them.

The motorbike had roared into life again. His mouth hanging open, Fisher mustered the strength to look back at the two teenagers.

"Thanks very much!" called Sirius over the throb of the engine."We owe you one!"

"Yeah, nice meeting you!" said James. "And don't forget: Elvendork! It's unisex!"

There was an earth-shaking crash, and Fisher and Anderson threw their arms around each other in fright; their car had just fallen back to the ground. Now it was the motorcycle's turn to rear. Before the policemen's disbelieving eyes, it took off into thin air: James and Sirius zoomed away into the night sky, their tail light twinkling behind them like a vanishing ruby.

From the prequel I am not working on-but that was fun! J.K. Rowling.2008

nasty lies from nasty people

Why is it that some people make a hobby out of making nasty lies??? Is it insecurity or bitterness? O baka naman sila ang guilty of the crime that they are pushing on to me.

I don't deal with such nasty people. If you're talking about me then so be it, ibig sabihin lang nun SIKAT AKO... hehehe.... All I know is that I am above them... yabang di ba?

For those people reading this blog at tinatamaan kayo, tamaan kayo. Yun lang... I am not two-faced. Kung akala niyo ganun, mali kayo... You're the one who is two-faced kasi you smile when you meet me tapos ganun pala....

I was not brought up to be a low-life like some people out there...

Major food tripping

Another cousins' pig-out night...well actually, this one technically started in the afternoon....

Ate Apie, Ate Maan and I went food tripping again. This time we tried out the pizza and the pasta at California Pizza Kitchen at Power Plant. I must say a little bit disappointed. The food there is good but couldn't really go all out since Ate Maan can't eat any type of salty food. So a simple Hawaiian pizza did the trick... Kung pao spaghetti was good too. Sweet and Spicy :D

Of course, hindi dian nagtatapos ang aming katakawan... they grabbed a quick sundae from Jollibee. TAKE NOTE: "THEY" hindi po ako nag-ice cream...

Lakad-lakad ng kaunti and then... We headed for YEGA Korean restaurant at P. Burgos. hehehe... Good old-fashioined KOrean food naman ang hinanap namin. When we went there I could still taste the pizza down my throat. We just ordered two orders of Samgyupsal but knowing it is a Korean restaurant, the FREE appetizers are enough to make you feel full... Another busog, gluttonous weekend for me...

The Ridiculous Burger Challenge

I tried my first batch of burgers from Burger Avenue.... Men, I was hoping that I could compete in their Ridiculous burger challenge, but I think it's a hard tackle:

Gobble up a triple decker patty burger in 5 mins.

This is no-joke. Hindi siya pipichuging burger. --->

I tried two burgers muna for practice: Cheeseburger and the Blue Cheese burger. Yes I have a fetish for cheese. [hindi ko po kinain sa isang upuan yan, alam ko na ang iniisip nyo...hahahaha] They were my lunch and dinner, respectively. Nga pala, onion rings pa pala before I forget. hehehe

They tasted really good. Real taste of beef hindi processed ground beef. tsalap!!! yumyum... The service was relatively quick since they cook your order when you order it. I was planing to have it delivered... Yes, tamad ako... A. Venue mall is just two to three blocks from my house... They only had 1 rider so it would take two hours for my order to be delivered....@_@ Lakad n nga lng ako... Pinaluto ko n lng para ready na for pick-up.

Hahaha, my blog post turned out to be a review na...

I swear.... I will be victorious and win that challenge... Buwahahaha!

Scattered Weekend

I was just lazing about during the weekend with not much going on around me. I did realize however that the things that I normally do have nothing to do with each other whatsoever. hehehe

I oggled at the computer for about 10 hours trying to finish my latest download of Virtual Villagers. I must admit, I feel a certain power acting like a god over some digitally animated tribe. I have control over their daily actions and decisions even when will they make whooppie! (Out comes the baby!) These times make me feel such a loser and a nerd. (hahaha)

It is a stark contrast to the night before when I stayed for, I think, 3 hours at Metrowalk's Starbucks. (Yumyum to the Caramel Frap and the Honey Glazed donut which I gobbled up in mere seconds, I have three witnesses^_^) I was just there talking to my co-workers about men and relationships. Both of which, I guess, I have no real experience with. I gave the outsiders point-of-view in the conversation. But I guess, something in coffee-based drinks give me knowledge about these intimate encounters. (hahaha)

On another night, my cousins and I went on with our usual "cousins' night out" where we don't actually go out. We've been doing these for months now but we have never actually gone out. I think we shouls just change it to "cousin's late night-in." During these nights we just pig out on delivered fast food grubs and watch a good movie. I changed my mind, we'll call it "cousins' pig-out night." (^_^)

I remember the PACONIAN days…

It was a sad Wednesday for me as I came to work and realized that there was no internet connection in the office. (duh… place sarcastic remark here)

Lounging about doing nothing, Daphne, my co-worker, and I realized that we were schoolmates though our batches are eons apart from each other (hehehe). We chatted nonstop about those nasty yet quirky teachers and the changes that have happened with the school. My dear school, Paco Catholic School, has gone through so much renovation that an old student, like Daphne, wouldn’t even recognize it. Even the dome of the church has undergone so many color transformations: from gold to green and now, I think, peach or orange.

Yes, change really is constant and time seems to make it evolve even more. The look of the school has really changed but much of the strict discipline still remains. Everybody still has to be inside the school gates before the clock strikes 6:50 in the morning or you’ll be forced to wait outside the school gates until 7:10, then you have to take the walk of shame past all the other classrooms that have already started their classes. Thank God for those rainy days when there were no tardy slips to be handed out. Long skirts are banned from the school premises making sure that all of the girls’ skirts were exactly a ruler’s height off the floor (I think I only used a 6”ruler for my skirt).

Most of the teachers there were the no-nonsense type but there were a few weird and kind ones that stuck out. Here’s a shout out to you Sir Plaza and of course Ms. Aguilan (hehehe, sipsip). I think they were the only ones who truly allowed us to get our own way. ^o^
Ah, my dear school, I think there was no better place for me to get my high school education. I think that you are the only school that helps keep your students’ feet stuck to the ground (although our heads do occasionally wander off somewhere in the clouds).

Miss Bree

I just finished giving my dear laptop a much needed makeover. Now, it looks new. hehehe... ^_^

It took quite a long time to decide which was the most appropriate design for dear 'Miss Bree'. Yes, I just gave my laptop a name. Since I just lost my 'Obi', I had to look for another target for my affection. I don't know why I chose the name Miss Bree. When I look at it now, the name just pops into my head. Maybe because it looks a little bit posh now or maybe it reminds me of Bree Van De Kamp's red hair (if you don't know Bree Van De Kamp, you need to watch Desperate Housewives). Maybe it's just something lame like B for black and REE for red.

Maybe in a few days I will grow tired of looking at Miss Bree. For now, it's my new baby...

Goodbye Obi

I cannot believe it… my beloved dog Obi has left us and has gone to doggie heaven. There, I know you would be able to fill yourself with your addiction of pandesal.

I regret not having spent as much time with you as I used to. I still remember the memories that you left behind. You are a truly special dog. So special, that even the people at McDonald’s let you enter their restaurant to eat. You are the friendliest dog ever that even our neighbors were able to take you out for a walk.

You left us when you were still pure and innocent. You were just barely 7 years old and you still had a full life ahead of you. I regret it. I regret it so much.

Seeing cobwebs….

I’ve got to admit, cobwebs have been covering almost every nook and cranny of this blog. I wish I could be able to remove that date stamp on this post. It just shows how much of a lazy bum I’ve been. Ella said that if a pregnant woman read my last post she would have had the baby by now. I corrected her; the baby would be turning one month old. ^_^

I’m not really the blogger-type of person. I just like reading and commenting on other people’s blog. I constantly run out of ideas to put in and so, incessant ramblings and nonsense is what the usual content of my blog is. These ramblings just go on and on forever. Even after I have posted it, I still continue to ramble in my mind.

Cobwebs, they actually are a real beauty. I will continue on with this blog without disturbing much of the elaborate designs that these internet spiders have woven for me.

Starting over...

Well, its' time for me to start over...

And I hope, the people around me will help me along the way...

Tuesday, January 30, 2007

It's been more than two months since i last posted here...

A lot has happened. But of course, nothing has happened to my thesis...
Imagine doing a thesis on "The Significance of Catholicism in the Decorative Design of Filipino Homes" and I am not the least bit religious... God!!! I'm almost an Atheist at times. But still I have to aim for the best right. I need to graduate, on time, so that my parents don't strangle me to death.

There is also some bad news. My sister wasn't able to pass the UPCAT, and to my knowledge she hasn't signed up with any other school. I'm actually fearing for her. Can't help it but she's depressed. She keeps asking herself how the hell did she not pass... She's one of the brightest in her class. I keep telling her, that there are other schools and that the UPCAT is really a hard exam. I even told her that all of us were surprised at how fewer the UPCAT passers were compared to our batch. It's almost half!!!!!!! It's all because of that freaky ToFI..

The UPCAT is way overrated. There are other ways to get in to UP..

hey quick update I got voted as best answer!!!!!!!

Here's the question:

"Is there anyone here who has tried eating a balot or penoy?"

Of course my reply was:

yup...me

i prefer the "balut sa puti". the chick fetus is still very young so the bones are really soft and there isn't much hair(feathers still look like hair)but most of all i like the soup and the yellow part(yolk).

yummy..

as for penoy, the best would be the "masabaw or uhugin" the eggyolk and white are just a mush inside perfect with a pinch of salt.

I just recently discovered Yahoo! Answers and it was quite fun answering questions i know and just making fun of what i don't know( a way to rack up the points)

Heck it's helping out with my thesis too...Not bad...

There was this one question about how does it feel to ride a jeepney during rush hour...
and i answered...one heck of an answer:

Jeepneys are then inspiration for the moon buggies, able to move its way against impossible terrain. The seats are designed for about 8 people on each bench but the driver fits about 9 people each. At night during rush hour, jeepneys can get quite dizzying with their colorful interior lighting of yellow, blue and red. people are all crammed up like sardines but still even in the compact space, the noisy engine and the rough street, people are still able to sleep soundly. As for terminals, there are only select stops that have terminals, these are usually the ones near CBDs or (centrak business districts) or famous schools like the University of the Philippines. During rush hour, lines can reach up to the round of the corner if there is limited jeepneys available. Only in Makati can you find the airconditioned jeep. You're lucky if you happen to catch one of those. There are different looks for jeepneys. Some are really colorful with booming sound systems, while there are others that are very dilapidated with holes on the floor(don't worry you won't fall) but regardless of how they look, they are really fast. i believe that if you put jeepneys drivers against famous race car drivers around the world they would win. no cop can chase them.the noise is bearable, just imagine an old angine that is revving up. atmosphere is generally quite if you are alone(meaning you don't have a companion) there's this genereal rule "never to look anyone in the eye". everyone just tends to look outside the window. it's okay to sit beside strangers only NO NOs are:
1.) those who are sweaty and smelly people
2.) those who are sleeping that tend to lean on your shoulder(duh, i don't know the guy)
3.) women with really long hair and it flies towards your face
4.) pickpockets, slashers(guys who use extra sharp blades to cut through your bag and steal your stuff)
5.) perverts (those who intentionally rub their arms or legs towards your body)The concept of crowding in the philippines is really non existent. mrt, jeepneys, concerts, anything....filipinos just tend to look at the bright side of the situation. we don't care that the jeep is too crowded, we're just thankful we got on a jeep to avoid being late, etc... Source(s):
15 years of riding the damn thing

It got one vote as best answer but still no decision yet....

Its been an exciting but rather uneventful weekend for me. I had a party on saturday and an all day outing with my family on sunday. Seems like bleh but it was really just okay.

The party was for a korean organization, a sort of friendship society for filipinos and koreans. Well, it seems that as of now, no friendship has been made. we're occasional companions, talking to each other in meetings but not really talking. do yo guys get what i mean? it's like I ask a question, he answers then he asks a question then i answer. there's no real communication...
then there's that long eerie pause, an awkward moment, waiting for the other person to speak but not getting any response. Then you start to speak, but end up speaking both at the same time, this makes for a more awkward atmosphere.

I don't know if it's because there is a language barrier or we just don't have the courage to talk to anyone yet, especially to a foreign stranger. Well here is hoping for a better response from them. well, just hoping.

here's to bonding sessions ----> drinking sessions!

As for my sunday outing with my family, it wasn't really an outing but more of just waiting for my sister to take her UPCAT. Yes, the damned UPCAT. My sister took it just like i did almost four years ago. Hopefully she'll pass or she'll be studying in God knows where. My mom has this rule of UP or nothing at all (unless you pass Ateneo or La Salle with a full scholarship grant--->like that's gonna happen<---)

Well, even though my sister and I are not what you would call sisters, i still hope for the best for her. she's a good student(take note...student not kid) but she needs more experience with the real world or for that matter, just with people outside her social cluster. She's too dependent of other people and i don't think she's ready to be on her own. That's what you're most likely to be here in UP. You don't have your mom there everytime to reprimand your teacher for scolding you or giving you a low grade. You can't have that laid back attitude you had with assignments and school work. You don't have the comfort of a having the answers to your homework in the textbook. you really have to study this time, you're on your own buddy...

As dreadful aas it may sound, college life in UP is fun. there's the freedom of speech, there's the everyday concert you can find anywhere i the campus. there's the ample supply of fishballs and isaw for the hungry poor(me). there are those unique traditions only in UP can u find like the Lantern Parade and of course the oblation run.

Well, who knows of what the future might bring. I might become a korean interpreter in the future or just a kimbap roller by the street. My sister might fail or she might even be in the top ten passers(hehehe, think not) but who knows???

it's been almost a year since i last posted anything on my other blogs. busy with school, busy from work, busy with drinking and most of all busy with sleep. hopefully with this new one i can post every once in a while.

Most of the time, i spend my hours staring blankly into the computer screen and the tv wondering about what to do. I think and think but alas, nothing comes up and i spend the day staring at the tv. completely oblivious to the fact that i actually have a lot of things to do.

what is it about school that makes it so dreadful to even think about? is there some cosmic power at school that drains the living energy out of students? it's like slowly sucking your brain through a soda straw. slowly but surely my brain's turning into goo. yuck(but oddly there's a kick to it). earlier today we had a lecture on hotel design and i just dozed off..and dreamt that i was in the hotel itself and my professor was my personal maid.. too bad that was just a daydream.

a couple of hours later, my friends and i were eating at flaming wings, we ate buffalo wings with carribean jack sauce and original flavor. i love and hate eating there, reasons:

  • the food is really good, wings are very tasty
  • relatively cheap
  • servings are huge
  • churros dessert is great

things i hate:

  • Coño girls from the neighboring school and
  • I can't avoid drinking a bottle of beer.

i know a bottle is not much. heck that won't even reach your stomach. it's just that i still had class. i would have to go to my professor and stink of beer. well, at least it gives you courage to face your professor and deliver your report.
